I've avoided vintage imagery for years. There was just something in me that thought my cards would become to busy and wouldn't fit my style. But lately I'm getting more into the vintage artwork. They use a lot of beautiful warm colors, that work really well in autumn and winter. And you can use a lot of different elements on the cards, like the enamel dots, vintage frames, golden accents and don't forget the lovely sequins ;). I use all the elements together to make one focal point so the card doesn't feel too crowded.

Ik heb jarenlang de 'vintage trend' ontlopen. Iets in mij vond de kaarten al snel te druk of te vol worden en daarom pastte het voor mijn gevoel niet zo bij mijn stijl. Maar de laatste tijd grijp ik toch vaker naar de vintage plaatjes. Ze hebben vaak wel die mooie warme kleuren (die vooral in de herfst en winter zo fijn aanvoelen) en het leent zich nu eenmaal goed voor een grote variatie aan elementen zoals de enamel druppels, de vintage frames, gouden accenten én natuurlijk de geliefde sequins haha. Door de achtergrond niet te druk te maken en de focus echt rondom het plaatje te leggen hou ik toch nog mijn rustigere stijl vast.

One of my friends really loves cats, and the color red. She doesn't have a red (orange) colored cat herself but I think it would really fit with her ;). Now I'm thinking of it... why do we call an orange colored cat red over here? Most of the time they're not really red. But well, no problem ;), I just combined the red and orange colors on this card for her. The cat is colored with distress markers and water, the stamp is from My Favorite Things. I think the background stencil I used is from them too. I used one of the birthday stamps from Simon Says Stamp (which they gave me as a little extra when I ordered in the month of my birthday, so cool) and I used a red ribbon, patterned paper and sequins to finish my card.

Een vriendin van me houdt heel veel van katten en de kleur rood. Ze heeft zelf dan geen rode kater, maar ik denk dat hij zeker bij haar zou passen ;). Nu ik eraan denk... waarom noemen we zoiets eigenlijk een rode kat... Terwijl hij toch niet echt rood is (maar goed, het meeste rode haar is meer oranje). Ik heb de kleuren rood en oranje gewoon gecombineerd op deze kaart voor haar. De kat heb ik gekleurd met distress markers en water. De stempel is van My Favorite Things en ik dacht dat het stencil voor de achtergrond ook van hen was. Ik heb een stempel van Simon Says Stamp gebruikt (die ik kreeg toen ik rond mijn verjaardag een bestelling bij ze plaatste, erg leuk). Ik heb nog een stukje rood lint, gekleurd papier en sequins gebruikt om mijn kaart af te maken.

I have some very exciting news to share! I'm one of the new designers for Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps! I can't believe it's true :). Sweet 'n Sassy stamps has a lot of beautiful stamps based on our faith, their slogan is 'sharing the love of Christ through paper crafting'. And that's exactly what I want to do.

My first stamp set is 'Message of Hope'. The set includes 5 images and 34 words and measures approximately 4" x 8". The word "forever" measures approximately 1 7/8" long and 1" high. I just received my own set and it looks beautiful, high quality clear stamps :). (can't wait to start creating with it! I know what I'll be doing this weekend ;)).

The design team from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps has made a couple of beautiful examples with this set that I want to share with you.

The first one is from Jane, she used several words from the set and the leaves image. (I love the watercolor background and the beautiful stone she made)

And the second one is from Julie. She made a beautiful background with another stamp set from Sweet 'n Sassy stamps and added the word 'Peace' frome the stamp set.
