One layer card - Racoon

I made another one layer card today :).One layer cards are always a bit challeging for me. I use a lot of patterned papers and for these cards you can't use these. So I made my own patterned paper with a background stamp today.

It's a combination of a couple 'techniques' and I made a video to show how I made the card.

As a one layer card with Hero Arts products this card qualifies for the challenge at A blog named Hero and the monday challenge at Simon Says Stamp is 'anything goes' so it certainly qualifies for that one ;).

Last but not least, I'm also linking this card to the ONE LAYER - vs LOTS OF LAYERS challenge at Make the Day special, as a one layer card in contrast to the cards with lots of layers.

Monochromatic card

I was thinking about the challenge from yesterday and I realized that monochromatic didn't have to mean black... So I decided to make another card for the challenge and this time I choose the monochromatic version. And that fits my stamps and ink supplies haha.

I made a little process video for this card so you could see how it's made. The sound quality of the video isn't that good... but I'll try to fix that in my next video. I feel a bit like Kripke from the Big Bang Theory when I speak English but who knows, maybe it'll get better in a while. But luckily it's pretty self explainable too :)

When I started I was thinking to add some watercolor to the racoon but that didn't work on the cardstock I used (I didn't use neenah solar white but maybe that will work?...Or otherwise you could use just watercolor paper). So eventually I just added a couple of highlights with my distress marker on the racoon.

It's a pretty clean and simple card ánd it's in one layer so it fits the challenge at 'A blog named Hero' and 'Simon Says Stamp (wednesday challenge)' too! I used a stencil and stamp set from hero arts, but for all the supplies, check out the list below.

Colorful cards

I love the stamping contrast series they're doing at Make the day Special. I really wanted to join in the fun :). I'll start with the color contrast challenge. I found out that I don't have many good ink colors for this... Most of my colored inks are distress inks and they don't stamp really well with solid stamps. So I hope it's okay to color my stamps instead of using the solid ones ;).

I used one of the cute animals from Hero Arts for this card. I stamped it with some Archival ink and colored it with distress inks (used as watercolors). To add some extra color I used a bright patterned paper to finish the card (if you'd have a lot of inks and a couple of solid heart stamps you could make this background yourself). The patterned paper has a little bit of glitter on some of the hearts so I added a little bit of Wink of Stella to my owl too.

Yellow and grey

I got a little bit of time left to make another card for the 'in the middle' challenge at Simon Says Stamp. This time I put the sentiment card in the middle of the card (a little card on a larger card ;)). I love these beautiful sentiments that were in this Simon Says Stamp card kit. And I really like the color combination. A good excuse to use yellow ;). And we got a little bit more sunshine this weeks so it feels good to get a little bit more 'sunshine yellow' in my card. Including the little sparkling detail from the sequins.

I made another card with the same card kit, for the wednesday challenge (creating your own background) this time. I stamped a couple of flowers in the background with grey ink to create a matching background for the card and I used another sentiment card. Love the lettering on this one :).

I also made a new card set for my Etsy shop with these two cards (And the other one I made last week). I love how the sentiments are all about 'Beauty' and it with the card kit you can make a couple of nice matching card for a set. I tried a new 'styling' for my photo's and I think it works pretty well to display a card set this way :). It's available in my Etsy store!

In the middle

This weeks monday challenge at Simon Says Stamp is 'in the middle' and groups of three just work out great for 'in the middle' projects haha. I used a stamp set from Hero Arts with these really cute animals. I drawed the wooden block under the owl myself to make the 'middle' owl stand out a little bit more. I colored them with distress markers and water. I used some patterned paper from Lawn Fawn for the background and a little stroke of glitter paper from Joy Crafts (if you're ever looking for really smooth glitter paper that doesn't rub off, this one is perfect!!). I added a couple of buttons and sequins to add a little bit more interest to the card. And I finished my images with a little bit of wink of stella, you can see it best in the second picture.
